Day-01 Learnings Nishtha Modi

i feel like every website we see now is somehow built on the reference of some other site that already exists. nothing is fully new-new, but more like a remix. websites are something we look at, but also something we shape...

like they reflect who we are or what we wanna say. they’re not just visuals, they carry intention. also realised how even those old-school webpages with basic fonts and weird buttons still catch our eye. maybe coz they were made with that raw curiosity? like they weren’t trying too hard. just being. back then, people were just exploring the web like a playground figuring stuff out, testing things, not worrying too much about being perfect. now it’s more polished, sure, but sometimes less soulful. also the whole idea of a webpage being a stack of boxes really stuck with me. like under all that design, makes me think how we as designers need to go deep into one thing but also know a bit of everything like that t-shape thing. this is just the start, but i can already feel like it’s gonna change how i look at the internet.

Pretty much happy about the day, specifically how i tackled it without feeling too heavy and overwhelmed, while looking at todays presentation it took me back to the memory lane where in school we were taught basics of HTML & JAVA :))))

looking forward to see where the basics take me ahead! but yeah, today was an easy float and a big part of that credit goes to the way of teaching thanks :)

Learnings

Learned about the divisions specially how to play with image sizing its placement, how do linking works. also learned about some of the basic attributes like flex end, center, how positioning works how do you wrap something how alignment and paragraph spacing and padding works.

the game was a fun part though just clearing the basic concepts, for me it got much much easier

Today was all about figuring things out on our own coding without any given dummy code. At first, it was a struggle, especially understanding how position: absolute and position: relative actually work together. I spent time trying, failing, and fixing things bit by bit. Slowly, it started making sense how positioning changes depending on the parent and how elements behave. It was tough though, but satisfying.

My Understandings from Day 06

from the jen simmons video i loved the notion of "the idea of communicating the idea of a story", specially what do you want to narrate is the arrangement of the organization and the presentation of the visuals and words i love the example of google docs where the webpage narrates come we will write quickly and the other webpage serving the same purpose at the same time but narrating a whole of a different story and saying hello writer.

also for me personally the notion of everything is choices you make visually playing with grids works the best, even we talk about todays example of gmail and outlook, gmail narrates i want clean and fast communication kinda thing, where outlook gives more of productive suite to manage complex things kinda feeling. also from the lectures learning i loved the game of grid but still while working on one was kind of getting difficult for me

In order to connect the dots, first you need to have the dots!!

Defining a manifesto so this website would not be a portfolio, it would be a space that reflects me in the digital world. Everything in the website would stem from connection, some threads tied to who I am, where I come from, what has been my journey. The research that I do, the mediums that I choose, the stories that I tell, they’re not just outcomes, but process or the path followed to accomplish them. one would find stories here. and for the detailed case studies it would navigate them to my personal behance profile I want it something kinda like small small windows like a sketch, a quote or an design article that people can explore on. My website would definitely be a reflection of me- real, and pure.

Day 09

So for the layouts and for the wireframing ideas i had two option one was making a home page pan with the illustration of constellation that metaphorically depicts me and to communicate the idea of let the things unfold by its own and the stars when you hover on it would show my life or say my design journey.

the second (current) idea was grid in all the webpages which looks connected to each other, this idea was to depict the interconnectedness everything has, how things have evolved over time and the notion of connecting the dots.

here is my attempt for making sketchy rough layouts for the second idea, and playing with the grids.
